DESCRIPTION:Join us for a celebration of the USS Silversides Submarine Museum – honoring the legacy\, remembering our military\, and educating the community. This event reminds us of all of the sacrifices made by those at home and abroad during World War II and what it was like to celebrate the end of a very trying time. \nThis Annual Luau Fundraiser provides much needed support for our education programs\, overnight encampments\, exhibits\, and vessel preservation. YOUR support will help thousands of visitors learn more about World War II and how the West Michigan community was affected so many years ago. \nWe will gather on Thursday\, September 7 at 6pm for dinner\, drinks and entertainment. Bertsch Jr. Foundation to bring a scholarship opportunity to West Michigan Area. The foundation promotes service at the community\, state\, and federal level through education at a college or trade school. \nThe mission of the USS Silversides Submarine Museum is to honor the men and women of the military\, preserve military history and provide experiences that educate the public about past and present military history and technology. \nELIGIBILITY \nThis scholarship opportunity is for any of the following individuals who: \n\nHave honorably served in the military\nCurrently serving in the military\nA member of the ROTC Program\nA military dependent (child or spouse)\nThose pursuing a career in medical\, teaching\, or emergency services such as police\, firefighting\, or other EMTs.\n\nAPPLICATION REQUIREMENTS \n\nComplete Application\nFrom the West Michigan Area\nRecommendation letter from an educator or program leader who is familiar with your service to the community\nColor head shot suitable for website and social media posting\nAttach a personal statement of 300-500 words in response to one of the following prompts:\n\nWhat does the word “leadership” mean to you and how have you demonstrated your definition of leadership in you school\, community\, or the military?\nDescribe how being a child or spouse of a military service member has influenced your educational goals.\nHow has the military shaped your life?\nWhat would you like civilians to know or better understand about the military or career field you are going into?\nWhy are you choosing the career field you are choosing?\n\n\n\nCOMPLETE APPLICATION – CLICK LINK BELOW \nComplete the fillable PDF below\, download\, and email your completed application to began@silversidesmuseum.org. by August 5\, 2023.
