Service Animals & Pet Policy
The USS Silversides Submarine Museum strives to provide a welcoming, accessible experience while protecting our visitors and historic spaces.
Service Animals
Service animals, as defined by the ADA, are welcome in the museum building.
Service animals must:
- Be under control at all times
- Be leashed or harnessed unless it interferes with their work
- Be housebroken and well-behaved in a public setting
Submarine Access
For safety and preservation reasons, no animals are permitted aboard the submarine, including service animals, due to steep ladders, narrow passageways, and confined spaces.
Staff are happy to offer alternative ways to experience the submarine—please ask for assistance.
Pets
Pets and non-service animals are not permitted inside museum buildings or on the submarine.
This includes emotional support and therapy animals.
